Ian is dedicated to preventative and general community medicine, with a particular interest in the health and wellbeing of people with disabilities. A breadth of life experience influences his practice. Born in country Victoria, Ian worked outside medicine—“digging holes and putting up sheds”—before completing his medical degree. A dedicated family man, he has three adult children, including a daughter with a significant intellectual disability.
Ian has further qualifications in tropical medicine, and in obstetrics and gynaecology; and he is an accredited supervisor with the RACGP Family Medicine Program, providing ongoing practical experience for registrars and medical students.
A doctor who has practised at Eltham Clinic since 1989, Ian has lived in the area for more than 30 years. Outside work, you’ll find him undertaking restoration projects, volunteering with local disability services and “messing about with old Holdens”.
